Eligibility
- Must be nominated by institution.
- MD, DO, or MD/PhD with active US medical license.
- Assistant professor within first 4 years of appointment
- Cannot hold RO1 or equivalent
- Must commit 80% of time to research
- Applicant is required to apply in conjunction with a mentor
- May not hold another physician-scientist career development award from a private source (does not include project-focused research grants)
Description
The Clinical Investigator Award supports independent young physician-scientists conducting disease-oriented research that demonstrates a high level of innovation and creativity. The goal is to support the best young physician-scientists doing work aimed at improving the practice of cancer medicine. Awardees are also eligible to apply for medical school debt retirement up to $100,000.
