Eligibility
- MD, DO, or MD/PhD with active US medical license
- Assistant professor or equivalent within first 4 years of appointment
- Must be nominated by institution
- Cannot hold RO1 or equivalent
- Must commit 80% of time to research
- Must apply in conjunction with a mentor
- May not hold another physician-scientist career development award from a private source
Description
The award program is specifically intended to provide outstanding young physicians with the resources essential to becoming successful investigators. The goal is to increase the number of physicians capable of moving seamlessly between the laboratory and the patient’s bedside in search of breakthrough treatments. Awardees are also eligible to apply for medical school debt retirement up to $100,000.
